Summary
A GIS Desktop Developer focuses on the development and maintenance of geospatial software solutions for desktop software with a focus on Esri's ArcGIS Platform. The development environments might include Python, .NET, Visual Basic, C#, C++, ArcObjects, Java, and Objective C.

Competencies & Skills:
- Knowledge and experience creating GIS related applications using one or more of the development environments listed above
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of basic geospatial data concepts (GIS dataformats, Data Management, GNSS (GPS), Geoprocessing, Maps and Metadata)
- Familarity with standard software developement protocols and application documentation including story boarding/wireframing, technical writing
- Familarity with AGILE developement methodology
- Experience programming for an RDBMS such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Informix, DB2 or Oracle
- Self Motivated with ability to work as part of a distibuted team
Experience and Qualification
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, GIS or GIS Related Field
- 2 years experience as a Developer
- 1 year experience developing GIS Applications for Desktop, Web or Mobile
- Legally able to work in US
Preferred Credentials, Qualifications or Experience
- Esri Technical Certification
- GISP Certification
- Experience working with Local Governments, Non-Profits or Forestry Industry
- AGILE Certification
Work Environment
- Able to work remotely in most cases
- Some travel may be required
- Developer will need to provide own computer, office supplies and required development software
