ArcGIS 10: What's New

eGIS Associates Developed Course

Course Overview:

ArcGIS 10 is the first major change to Esri’s popular software in a long time. This class one day class, developed one of eGIS' experienced Certified Trainers, introduces students to the many changes that have been made to ArcGIS Desktop 10 includ-ing the ArcMap and ArcCatalog Interface, the new Catalog and Search windows, Editing, Data Driven Pages, Tables, and more.

This course may be conducted onsite or via our internet classroom.

Target Audience:

This course is designed for those with past experience using ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 or earlier. It is not for new ArcGIS Users.

Prerequisites and recommendations:

Students wishing to take this class should experience using ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 or earlier software. Students taking the online instructor led version of this class will need to have a copy of ArcGIS Desktop 10 available and installed. ArcEditor or ArcInfo is required to complete all the exercises but ArcView will work for the majority.

A 60 day demo license of ArcEditor is available from Esri. Click here to obtain yours if needed.

Course Goals:

After successfully completing this course you will have acquired the skills and knowledge needed to:

  • Explain the changes to the ArcMap interface in ArcGIS 10
  • Understand and use Feature Templates when editing
  • Create Map Packages
  • Understand and use data driven pages
  • Use the new search window to locate data, maps, and tools
  • Create map booklets using data driven pages
  • Create and use Dynamic Text

  • General changes in ArcGIS 10
  • Changes to the ArcMap Interface
  • Editing in ArcGIS 10 with Feature Templates & the new snapping environment
  • Creating Data Driven Pages and Using Dynamic Text
  • Geocoding in ArcGIS 10

Cost:

Cost for Instructor Led Course (online or traditional classroom) - $300 per student

The fee to provide this course onsite for an organization depends on the number of students and the location. To receive a quote, please contact us at training@egisassociates.com.

A minimum of four students are need to constitute an instructor led class. Payment or purchase order must be re-ceived prior to the start of class. Any cancellations must be made one week in advance of the class to receive a re-fund.
